As you know, the activities I'm posting here are NOT due or included in the grade. The activities are for maintaining your skills and knowledge. It's recommended you participate in these activities so we can quickly get back to graded work when we return to school. For the few who may not be able to complete this, I will not rely on this as foundational knowledge when we return to school without giving you an opportunity to catch up.
This week you will be looking at the next major change in World History - the INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION. These four activities will help you understand how the world changed with the introduction of machines and industry!
Activity 1: Watch the "Revolutions" Episode from the "Mankind: The Story of All of Us" and answer the questions on the worksheet.
Activity 2: Read this introduction about the Industrial Revolution and answer the questions.
Activity 3: Examine the history of mechanization (using machines to produce energy or items) using the PowerPoint and worksheet below.
Activity 4: Play the "Urbanization Game." This game works best in a pair or group (this is something younger kids could participate in too!) with someone reading to you but you can totally do it on your own. You need either a big sheet of paper or two regular sheets of paper taped together and a pencil and eraser. Essentially, you're going to draw a typical pre-industrial town and then make changes to it as the Industrial Revolution progresses.
